What is Liposuction?Liposuction is defined as the removal of fat deposits from beneath the skin using a hollow stainless steel tube (called a cannula) with the assistance of a powerful vacuum. Liposuction at The Youthful Body is accomplished with local anesthetic (tumescent fluid) and is done in combination with our Power Assisted Liposuction instrument or with the cutting-edge Smartlipo™ laser and/or our LipoSelection® ultrasound machine(s). Our patients are never "put to sleep".

Liposuction at The Youthful Body provides better results by combining the safest techniques with artistic expression. We never forget our duty to "first, do no harm." Realistic expectations and excellent results are our goals. For example, if a patient wants to have a large volume of fat removed in one session, the realistic goal may be that the patient have serial liposuction procedures that are safer and ultimately yield better results. It is not artistry to take unnecessary risks or push liposuction to the limits of safety.

Tumescent Technique is Safest
The tumescent technique for liposuction is unquestionably the safest form of liposuction. When tumescent liposuction is done correctly, it is a very safe procedure. For example, there have been no reported deaths associated with tumescent liposuction totally by local anesthesia. Even when general anesthesia is combined with the tumescent technique, liposuction is quite safe provided the volume of fat removed and the number of areas treated during a single surgery is not excessive. The dilute epinephrine contained in the tumescent anesthetic solution profoundly shrinks capillaries and thus virtually eliminates surgical blood loss. Liposuction at The Youthful Body is always performed with the tumescent technique. This makes the procedure very safe, eliminates the need for narcotic pain medications after surgery and delivers smoother cosmetic results.

Liposelection® by Vaser® (Using Vaser 3rd generation ultrasound unit)
The Vaser® system combines new patented technology with advanced surgical techniques to break up and melt fatty tissue. Unwanted fat can be effectively removed from abs, arms, back, hips knees, love handles, neck, chin, saddlebags and thighs. The Vaser® system uses a state-of the-art ultrasound probe that melts fat, leaving surrounding tissue (such as nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue) relatively intact. The liquefied fat is then removed by our gentle suction process.

Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL)
The power-assisted liposuction (PAL) technique features a cannula that vibrates at 4000 vibrations per minute to easily break up unwanted fat for suctioning. This technique is widely used today and is offered at The Youthful Body for individuals who want liposuction of smaller areas and are within the minimum weight requirements (BMI<24.9).
