In the past, the only way to reshape the contours of the face was with a surgical facelift. Although this technique is still the best way to bring about a dramatic change in appearance, there is now a quicker and easier way to make more subtle corrections.

The Serdev technique is a scarless procedure that provides a natural-looking lift without general anesthesia. Pioneered by surgeon Nikolay P. Serdev, M.D., Ph.D., it involves anchoring to a nonmovable fibrous tissue above the muscles (fascia) as well as tendons and ligaments (just above the bone) by using absorbable and or non-absorbable sutures.

But the Serdev technique isn't limited to the face. This versatile surgical approach can also be used to lift the buttocks or the breasts. The breast lift procedure is particularly beneficial to women prone to scarring from traditional breast lifts.
